read this now: lord, save us from your followers
lord, save us from your followers by dan merchant
recently, i finished reading “lord, save us from your followers” by dan merchant. i had the privilege of seeing dan speak last december and was very intrigued by this book. luckily i got a copy and was able to experience it. (i can’t wait to see the movie that accompanies it!)
the book basically covers several interviews with people who are all over the religious and political spectrum. he asks the same question to every individual (which is also the subtitle of the book) – why is the gospel of love dividing america? he also goes around the country wearing a white jumpsuit with every obnoxious bumper sticker you could possibly imagine and asks random people on the street for any comments. what they share is very insightful in helping answer the question the subtitle of the book presents.
the standout chapter to me was chapter eight (sister mary timothy and the christians). the last two pages had me in tears, that to me is what loving another person is really all about. you have to read it for yourself
